Genesis

The Genesis Sunday School class is a large vibrant class.  Its members run the gamut from singles to married couples with pre-school, elementary, high school and even a few college age students.

We meet every Sunday in the Genesis Sunday School room adjacent to the library in the Methodist Ministries Center and are always looking for others to join us.

Our teachers are comprised of willing class members and occasionally we have guest lecturers.  Most of our lessons run between 1-2 months.  Class participation and debate are integral components of our lessons.

The topics that we tackle vary from month-to-month and teacher to teacher.  One of our lessons was  David Nassar's, A Call to Die, a 45 day fast from life and feast on scripture.  Also we have studied Matthew and examined parables with Dr. Harold Lawrence's book as our guide.  We have even explored our Love Languages in the context of scripture.

We are a mission conscious class and donate monthly to the FUMC Community Care fund.  We also raise funds for big projects such as helping local families during the holidays.  One of our biggest efforts revolves around Relay for Life.  Our class has been touched by cancer and we have all come together to support that charity raising many thousands of dollars over the years.

We also love to have fun.  Given the busy schedules and the demands of work and children, we still find time to get together socially.
