2004 First United Methodist Confirmation Class Confirmation is an important part of our youth ministry as it allows youth to make a significant rite of passage in their faith. Our confirmation program is called "Claim the Name". Claim the Name is an age appropriate overview of the Christian faith, including our identity as Methodist with Scripture, history and heritage, practices and beliefs.

This year confirmation consisted of five months of classes between January and May.  The teachers provide an environment in which the confirmand can explore their faith. The program is designed to teach the meaning of church membership. It is tailored to equip participants in understanding the meaning of the commitment and vows assumed at the time of joining the United Methodist Church.

The program takes place during the Sunday school hour with additional time spent with an adult mentor. For all, confirmation marks a time of learning what it means to enter into a mature relationship with God.
