The United Methodist Church has historically been a significant frontrunner in the expansive realm of Christian benevolence. The founder and father of Methodism, John Wesley, in speaking upon the topic of Christian stewardship is quoted as saying, "Do all the good you can, by all he means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the time you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can." To this very day United Methodists worldwide find themselves in the lead for providing continuing basic human needs and many timely lifesaving efforts in catastrophic situations.
The First United Methodist Church of LaGrange takes a significant role in lending a helping hand as provider of both momentary urgent care and emergency disaster relief in ongoing efforts. From offering personal assistance within the local church and community, to substantive wider-community efforts in direct conjunction with other area care providers, both private and government sponsored, First United Methodist is committed to the mission of being a Light of Christ in a real and tangible manner. In addition, we are continually on the prayerful outlook for new arenas in which God is calling us to be responsibly involved.
In these Outreach pages you will find a listing of but some of the more significant areas through which members of First United Methodist engage in helping the helpless and assisting the poor and unfortunate. God continues to richly bless our church with willing hands and hearts of generosity and grace. If you feel led to work alongside us in any of these efforts, please contact the church.
In your time and place, may God bless you in your Christian outreach.
