I. Introduction
At First United Methodist Church of LaGrange, we commend the teachings of Jesus Christ and a life of faith that follows His example. We believe that a Christian lifestyle makes a difference in our society and our world, and it is our desire to reinforce that lifestyle through worship experiences and through teaching and fellowship opportunities.
We constantly seek ways to manage our growth by recreating a sense of family in our various programs and groups. There will always be a place here for those who seek to exercise talents and gifts and who wish to belong to a spiritual family. With an annual budget of $1.3m, our current membership is approximately 1,200 with an average attendance of 495 each Sunday in 3 services.
Each Sunday, the congregation worships and praises God in three different services. The 9 am traditional service meets in the chapel, and has a nostalgic influence with an open and inviting atmosphere. The music focuses on old-time hymns and often features favorite FUMC Choir selections. Morning Glory is the 9 am casual, contemporary worship service, which meets in the Methodist Ministries Center. The Morning Glory Band leads the congregation in a blend of Contemporary Christian, Praise, and traditional music offerings. Our 11 am service held in the sanctuary affords a more liturgical worship experience in the tradition of the United Methodist Church. Musical selections include traditional hymns supplemented by a 49 rank, 2,782 pipe Schantz organ and moving choral presentations by the FUMC Choir.
Our campus is 1 block from LaGrange College with whom we have a wonderful partnership and 2 blocks from historic downtown LaGrange. We invite you to learn more about our church at: www.lagrangefumc.org
