Route 78 - Mission Work

Mission Work
Missions is an important part of the Route 78 Group. Each year we raise money through fundraisers to support our mission projects.  We think it is important to each our youth involved in mission work at an early age.  The Route 78 group does most if not all of their mission work here in Troup County.  Some of the work we have done in the past were filling stockings for nursing homes, singing at the Florence Hand Christmas Party, participating in Paint the town by putting together team boxes and providing water to workers.  We also provide Christmas each year for a family.  Last year we started our battery mission which provides 9 volt batteries to homeowners so that they change their smoke detector battery and save the life that God gave them.  This is only a few of our projects that we do throughout the year.

Preparing for River of Life
We also participate in a mission trip during the summer.  For the past two years we have traveled to Cornerstone United Methodist Church and participated with their church in the River of Life.  This is a week where students paint homes, provided detailed yard work for homeowners, build wheelchair ramps, build decks, lay pavers for walk ways, and do devotions with homeowners.  This is hard work but each year our students ask to go back, in fact, this is the one event that they look forward to participating with.

Our students learn that it is important to give back to others in the community.  And that through mission work our students have touched numerous lives while doing the work of Christ.

This year our group also participated in Operation Christmas Child. We collected over 126 boxes.
