Library

The library is located in the Methodist Ministries building across from the Genesis classroom.
Our beautiful church library is part of our Education Ministry. The primary purpose of our Library is to provide resources to the entire congregation, from our youngest members to youth and through the adult population. The Library is funded through the church budget and through donations from individual members or groups of the congregation.

We offer materials which celebrate our faith tradition, expand our understandings and knowledge, and challenge us to grow in our personal and collective spiritual journeys while honoring the virtues we value as followers of Christ: those of love, encouragement, inspiration, appreciation for diversity, wisdom, insight, humor and hope.

We have over 1,600 books in our library, over 100 that have been acquired within the last year.  The computerized index is now available (see below).  New books are designated with pink highlighting in the index and with a red 'dot' on the spine of the book.  Books have been cataloged in the library using the Dewey Decimal System.

New books you might want to check out include:
+ Water for the Soul by Sellwyn Hughes, an Everyday Light devotional planner-journal.
+ The Moody Atlas of Bible Lands by Barry Beitzel. A geography of the Holy Lands.
+ When Will the Fighting Stop? A Childs View of Jerusalem by Ann Morris. A young Jewish boy living in Jerusalem observes all the different people that make the city their home and wonders why they can't all be friends.
+ The Greatest Moments in the Life of Christ by Max Lucado, reveals to us that simple moments, quiet moments, moments missed by many but created by God, forever punctuate the timeline of history.
Never Beyond Hope is available for checkout in the library.

Never Beyond Hope by J. I. Packer. This book retells the story of 8 biblical characters that were imperfect and how God used them. It gives the rest of us hope to continue with life struggles. This is easy to read and perfect for end-of-day reflections.
+ Ordinary Resurrections: Children in the Years of Hope by Jonathan Kozol is a book of healing that tells about the lives of children in the poor neighborhood of South Bronx's most dismal neighborhood, Mott Haven. A sense of hope and wonder is felt at the resiliency of the young.

The church library is open whenever the church building is open. Checking out books is done on the honor system. Cards in the books are simply filled out (your name and date) and the card left in the box on the table by the door. Books are returned to the same table and are re-shelved by volunteers.
